Herman Aguinis

Academy of Management Scholar Herman Aguinis of George Washington University School of Business, where he also served as Chair of the Department of Management, Director of the Master of Human Resources Management Program, and Chair of the School of Business Diversity Council. He served as President of the Academy of Management (AOM) and the Iberoamerican AOM. Before joining GWU, he was the John F. Mee Chair of Management and the Founding and Managing Director of the Institute for Global Organizational Effectiveness at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. He earned his Ph.D. in industrial and organizational psychology from the University at Albany, State University of New York.

Professor Aguinis has published 13 books and written more than 220 refereed journal articles and 50 book chapters, monographs, and other publications. His research has been published in all seven AOM journals. Recent projects address corporate social responsibility and business sustainability, domestic and international workforce diversity, the future of work, leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship, human capital development, performance management, and star performance.

Dr. Aguinis is a Fellow of the Academy of Management and served as Deputy Dean of the AOM Fellows. He has received Distinguished Career Awards for lifetime scholarly contributions from two different Academy of Management Divisions: Research Methods and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; AOM Practice Theme Committee Scholar Practice Impact Award recognizing outstanding impact on policy making and managerial and organizational practices; and AOM’s Entrepreneurship Division IDEA Thought Leader Award. In addition, he received eight best-article-of-the-year awards from various academic journals, including Academy of Management Perspectives.
